Paris & Provence 2009
Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to Paris
Day 2 - Arrive Paris Welcome to Paris, the capital city of France. After check-in and time at leisure to relax and unwind, meet your Tour Director for a Welcome Drink.
Day 3 - Paris — Tournus — Avignon We drive south into Burgundy and stop at Tournus before following the Rhone Valley, past Lyon, to Avignon, where we see the famous bridge, the mighty Papal Palace and the bustling Place de I - Horloge. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)
Day 4 - Avignon — Chateauneuf du Pape — Pont du Gard — St Remy — Mallemort-en-Provence First we sample some wine at Chateauneuf-du-Pape before seeing the Pont du Gard, the ancient Roman aqueduct. We continue via St. Remy de Provence to our resort hotel. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)
Day 5 - Aix-en-Provence orientation & at leisure We drive to the stylish resort of Ste. Maxime on the Esterel Coast and take a cruise to St. Tropez with time to relax at leisure. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 6 - French Riviera Excursion We enjoy an orientation tour of Aix-en-Provence, including the elegant Cours Mirabeau, and our Tour Director shows us one of the Hidden Treasures of this beautiful town. After time at leisure, we drive to a splendid wine estate where we enjoy a wine tasting and visit the gardens, voted the "Best in France". A mouth watering lunch of local specialities will be served to us in the courtyard, accompanied by the appropriate wines. Later we return to our hotel. (Buffet breakfast / 'Be my guest' Dinner)
Day 7 - Van Gogh's Arles and 'Les Alpilles' We drive into the Camargue to visit the Roman city of Arles associated with the artist Van Gogh, before continuing to the quaint hilltop town of Les Baux. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 8 - Mallemort-en-Provence — TGV — Paris (2 nights) C We travel by high-speed TGV train from Avignon to Paris in less than three hours. On arrival our guided tour features views of the Arc de Triomphe, Champs Élysées and Notre Dame, plus we visit Montmartre and ascend to the second level of the Eiffel Tower. Tonight we have the chance to attend the world famous cabaret, the Moulin Rouge. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 9 - Paris sightseeing and at leisure Today we enjoy Paris at leisure. Maybe visit the Musée D - Orsay or the Louvre" Tonight, we enjoy a Farewell Dinner with our Tour Director and travelling companions in a local restaurant. (Buffet breakfast / Farewell Dinner)
Day 10 - Paris - USA Say "au revoir Paris" as our tour comes to an end. (Buffet breakfast)
Free airport transfers: Transfers on Day 2 at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport will operate at 09.00 12.00 and 15.00. Passengers arriving later should make their own way to the first hotel. Return transfers on the last touring day will arrive at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport at 08.00 and 11.30.
