European Dream 2009
Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to Rome.
Day 2 - Arrive Rome (2 nights) Welcome to Rome! After hotel check-in, time to relax and unwind. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Drink with your Tour Director and fellow travellers.
Day 3 - Rome sightseeing & at leisure Our guided tour includes a visit to St. Peter's Basilica. We then cross the River Tiber where we overlook the Forum and see the Colosseum and the Circus Maximus. Then time at leisure. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 4 - Rome — Venice (Marcon) We drive to Umbria and see the impressive hilltop towns of Orte and Orvieto, before entering Tuscany. Then we cross the forested Apennine hills, we pass Bologna and reach the flat Veneto plains and continue to our hotel where we dine tonight. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)
Day 5 - Venice sightseeing — Lake Maggiore We cruise to St. Mark's Square where we see the Bridge of Sighs and the Doge's Palace. Then our Tour Director shows us a Hidden Treasure and we visit a glass-blowing workshop before continuing to the Italian Lakes. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)
Day 6 - Lake Maggiore — Lucerne Today we take the scenic Gotthard route into Switzerland and on to Lucerne, where we will see the Lion Monument and the Chapel Bridge. Then maybe take a mountain trip and still have time to shop for something Swiss. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)
Day 7 - Lucerne — Paris (2 nights) We travel to the French border near Basel. We pass the fortified town of Belfort, stop to view the vineyards at Savigny-Lès-Beaune, and drive through rich farmland before eventually arriving in the glittering capital city, Paris. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 8 - Paris sightseeing & at leisure Our guided tour includes views of Notre Dame Cathedral, the Champs Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe. Then we will ascend the Eiffel Tower to the second level. Then free time or maybe take an excursion to the Palace of Versailles. Tonight we enjoy a Farewell Dinner in a local restaurant with our Tour Director. (Buffet breakfast / Farewell Dinner)
Day 9 - Paris - London (2 nights) We drive north across the First World War battlefields to Calais, where we board the Channel ferry for Dover, then on by coach to London. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 10 - London sightseeing & at leisure Many major sights are included on our morning sightseeing tour, then time is your own. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 11 - London — USA Time to say goodbye to London as our tour comes to an end. (Buffet Breakfast)
Free airport transfers: Transfers on Day 2 at Rome Fiumicino Airport will operate at 09.30, 12.30, 15.30 and 18.45. Passengers arriving later should make their own way to the first hotel.
