Route 66

Day 1 - Arrive Chicago Arrive today in Chicago, the Windy City. A complimentary transfer is provided to your Trafalgar hotel. Your Tour Director will be available this afternoon at the hotel to answer any questions and help you plan your time in Chicago.

Day 2 - Chicago — St. Louis — sightseeing We learn about Chicago on our orientation tour viewing the famous Lakeshore Drive, the Magnificent Mile and Navy Pier. Our next stop is Springfield, capital of Illinois and final resting place of Abraham Lincoln. We stop and pay respects at Lincoln's Tomb. Later, we arrive in St. Louis for an orientation tour of the city including views of the famous Gateway Arch. This evening we enjoy a welcome dinner cruise on the Mississippi River. (Full Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

Day 3 - St. Louis — Meramec Caverns — Branson (2 nights) This morning we visit the historic Anheuser Busch Brewery. We follow the journey of how beer is produced, visit the famous Budweiser Clydesdales paddock and stables, beechwood aging cellars, historic brewhouse and packaging plant and taste fine beers and malt beverage products. Later we marvel at some of the rarest and largest cave formations at the Meramec Caverns and then travel into the heart of the Ozark Mountains to Branson, the all-American musical extravaganza and entertainment mecca of the Midwest. The rest of the day is at leisure. There is something for everyone in Branson. (Full Breakfast)

Day 4 - Branson at leisure We have the full day at leisure to experience one of America's most popular entertainment destinations. See fabulous shows, enjoy fiddling, comedy, banjo-picking, big band, country, pop and more - all performed by legendary entertainers such as Andy Williams, Petula Clark, Yakov Smirnoff and Shoji Tabuchi. Your Tour Director will assist you with planning your day.(Full Breakfast)  

Day 5 - Branson — Will Rogers Memorial — Oklahoma City After breakfast at Mike Radford's Remember When Veteran's Café we stop at Precious Moments Park, nestled in the rolling foothills of the Ozark Mountains. We then travel along some of the best-preserved sections of Route 66 as we pass through Eastern Oklahoma. Outside of Tulsa we visit the Will Rogers Memorial Museums, dedicated to one of America's most beloved celebrities. We then arrive in Oklahoma City where this evening we are taken to the restored Bricktown district for dinner, followed by a stop at the Oklahoma City National Memorial. (Full Breakfast) (Highlight Dinner)  

Day 6 - Oklahoma City — Route 66 Museum — Amarillo This morning we visit the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Museum whose mission is "to preserve and interpret the heritage of the American West for the enrichment of the public." Then we continue to Clinton and visit the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum where we experience the history and culture of each decade of the great Routee 66. As we enter Texas, we're back on Route 66 for some famous picture stops along the Mother Road and arrive in the city of Amarillo.(Full Breakfast)  

Day 7 - Amarillo — Santa Fe (2 nights) After making a short photo stop at the "pop art" sculpture known as Cadillac Ranch, we leave Texas and enter New Mexico. We stop at Pecos National Historic Monument where Western Civilization met the Pueblo Indians. Skirting the Sangre de Cristo Mountain range, we arrive in the historic state capital of Santa Fe. Tonight, we enjoy dinner at a local specialty restaurant.(Full Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)  

Day 8 - Santa Fe sightseeing & at leisure We enjoy a full day in Santa Fe, starting with a morning guided tour aboard an open-air trolley. The rest of the day is at leisure to pursue your own interests.(Full Breakfast)

Day 9 - Santa Fe — Acoma Sky Pueblo — Winslow We travel through Albuquerque on our way to Acoma, the 1,000 year-old Sky City Pueblo. Arriving in Arizona we travel through the amazing landscapes of the Petrified Forest. From here we make our way to one of the famous historic Route 66 resorts, La Posada, where each room is named for a former celebrity guest.

Day 10 - Winslow — Navajo Reservation — Grand Canyon This morning we travel north into the Navajo Indian Reservation. After a stop at the historic Cameron Trading Post, we follow the South Rim drive along the Grand Canyon, taking in the ever-changing vistas. We overnight inside the national park, allowing plenty of time to explore this natural wonder.

Day 11 - Grand Canyon — Kingman — Las Vegas This morning, we have the unique option of viewing the Grand Canyon from the air - either by plane or helicopter! We then enjoy some of the original parts of Route 66 as we visit the historic towns of Seligman and Kingman, before crossing the Colorado River into Nevada. Our journey continues with an afternoon arrival in Las Vegas where there's time to enjoy the casinos, shows and all-night entertainment. (Full Breakfast)  

Day 12 - Las Vegas — Hollywood — Los Angeles Today it's back on a portion of Route 66 at Barstow and then on to Los Angeles. Along the way we enjoy some of the sights of Los Angeles, including a stop in Hollywood to view the famous Hollywood Sign, Walk of Fame and Grauman's Chinese Theatre. We then drive along Sunset Boulevard, through Beverly Hills and all the way to the Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica, where there is time to wander around. Now that we have had our "kicks on Route 66," we'll enjoy the final evening of our tour with a farewell dinner at a local specialty restaurant. (Full Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

Day 13 - Depart Los Angeles This morning is at leisure until hotel check-out when our tour ends. A complimentary transfer is provided to Los Angeles International Airport. (Full Breakfast)
