European Traveller 2009
Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to London.
Day 2 - Arrive London (2 nights) After checking into your Trafalgar hotel, the rest of your day is at leisure.
Day 3 - London sightseeing & at leisure Many major sights are included on our morning sightseeing tour, then time is your own. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 4 - London — Paris (2 nights) First we drive to Dover for our Channel crossing to France. Then we visit the Vimy Ridge Memorial en route to Paris, where we enjoy a Welcome Drink. (Continental Breakfast)
Day 5 - Paris sightseeing & at leisure Our guided tour includes a drive along the Champs Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe and on to the Eiffel Tower, to ascend to the second level. Next we have views of Notre Dame Cathedral and then we are free to explore this city further or perhaps to take an excursion to the vast Louvre Museum to see the enigmatic Mona Lisa. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 6 - Paris — Lucerne We drive through the Burgundy vineyards, seeing the Castle of Châteauneuf. We pass Belfort before reaching the Swiss border at Basel and on to the lakeside resort of Lucerne where we see the wooden Chapel Bridge and the Lion Monument. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)
Day 7 - Lucerne — Venice (Mestre) The St. Gotthard highway takes us past Alpine peaks and on to the Italian border at Chiasso. We glimpse Lake Como and skirt around Milan before continuing to Venice. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)
Day 8 - Venice (Mestre) - Florence This morning our canal cruise takes us to St. Mark's Square where we see the Bridge of Sighs and the Doge's Palace. We see a glass-blowing demonstration and have time to explore before driving across the Apennines to the Renaissance city of Florence. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)
Day 9 - Florence — Rome (2 nights) A Our guided walking tour shows us the cathedral, the baptistery, Giotto's Bell tower, Signoria Square and visits Santa Croce Church. Then time to shop and our Tour Director shows us a Hidden Treasure before continuing to Rome. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 10 - Rome sightseeing & at leisure Today on our guided tour we visit St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican and see the Pieta by Michelangelo. Then we cross the Tiber to ancient Rome where we overlook the Forum and see the Colosseum and the Circus Maximus. Tonight we enjoy a Farewell Dinner together with our Tour Director and new-found friends. (Buffet breakfast / Farewell Dinner)
Day 11 - Rome — USA "Buon viaggio" to our touring friends as our tour of Europe comes to an end. Airport transfers are available, conditions apply. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 12 - Free airport transfers: Return transfers on the last touring day will arrive at Rome Fiumicino Airport at 07.00 and 09.30.
