Best of the North of Ireland & Dublin 2009
Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to Dublin.
Day 2 - Arrive Dublin Welcome to Ireland! After check-in, time to relax. Later a guided tour includes a visit to Trinity College and views of St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin Castle and Phoenix Park. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Drink with your Tour Director and travelling companions.
Day 3 - Dublin — Belfast First today we visit the Old Jameson Whiskey Distillery. We travel via the Boyne Valley, site of the famous battle, to enjoy views of Carlingford Lough before a scenic drive to Downpatrick. Then we drive north to Belfast and our hotel. (Full breakfast / Dinner)
Day 4 - Belfast — Bushmills — Giants Causeway — Letterkenny (2 nights) Our Belfast sightseeing tour shows us the City Hall, Queen's University and Stormont Castle. Then we drive along the Antrim coast, seeing the castles at Ballygalley and Glenarm, to Ballycastle. During today our Tour Director will share with us the location of a Hidden Treasure, before visiting Giants Causeway and on to Londonderry. (Full breakfast)
Day 5 - Londonderry / Derry sightseeing We drive to Londonderry for a walking tour. A local guide takes us onto the city walls for fine views over this splendid city. We also visit the Bogside — with memories of the recent conflicts — then we continue to the 17th century St. Columb's Cathedral. Next we head to the Derry Craft Village and on to the quay where Irish emigrants sailed to the New World. Then enjoy time at leisure perhaps to take an excursion to the Inishowen Peninsula. Later we return to our hotel and enjoy Highlight Dinner in a local restaurant. (Full breakfast / Highlight Dinner)
Day 6 - Letterkenny — Belleek — Sligo (2 nights) Today we travel via Strabane and Omagh where we visit the Ulster-American Folk Park en route to Lough Erne and Enniskillen. Then via the Belleek Pottery factory to our hotel. (Full breakfast / Dinner)
Day 7 - Yeats Country & Donegal Excursion We visit Yeats country en route to Drumcliff. Then to Donegal and a scenic drive to Balleybofey and Glenties. Next to Ardara, famous for Aran sweaters and Donegal tweeds, then we return via Killybegs. (Full breakfast)
Day 8 - Sligo — Dublin We follow the Shannon River to Lough Key and on to Boyle, seeing the Cistercian abbey. Then back to Dublin via Longford and we enjoy a Farewell Dinner tonight. (Full breakfast / Farewell Dinner)
Day 9 - Dublin — USA Bid farewell to your Tour Director and new-found friends as our tour comes to an end. (Full breakfast)
Free airport transfers: Transfers on Day 2 at Dublin Airport will operate at 08.00, 11.00 and 13.30. Passengers arriving later should make their own way to the first hotel. Return transfers on the last touring day will arrive at Dublin Airport at 07.30, 09.30 and 11.30.
