This leisurely vacation combines guided sightseeing in San José, Poas Volcano National Park, and La Paz Waterfall, with a 7-night sailing aboard Windstar Cruises" Wind Star. First port of call is San Juan del Sur, a tranquil Nicaraguan fishing village where you can venture to the active Masaya Volcano, visit an Indian Market, or see colonial Grenada. In Playas del Coco, consider a Corobicí River rafting trip or a zip-line excursion that whisks you through the forest canopy. Next, the former banana-exporting town of Quepos is your base camp for a day of rainforest adventure. Take a walk through Manuel Antonio National Park with its lovely beaches, trails, and abundant animal life; or perhaps take a horseback ride to a beautiful jungle pool. In Bahia Paraiso, take the opportunity to explore Corcovado National Park. Next, discover the Curu National Wildlife Refuge with up to 200 species of birds, capuchin and howler monkeys, as well as sloths and anteaters. Your last stop is uninhabited Tortuga Island, where sheltered swimming and snorkeling in warm waters is the plan for the day.
