Italy & Sicily
Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to Rome.
Day 2 - Arrive Rome (2 nights) You - re met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Later enjoy a Welcome Dinner with wine with your Tour Director and fellow travellers. (Welcome Dinner)
Day 3 - Rome sightseeing & at leisure Our guided sightseeing tour includes a visit to St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. We continue to Piazza Venezia in the heart of the city before continuing to the Via Sacra, Roman Forum and the Colosseum. Finally we see the Circus Maximus beneath the Palatine Hill. Later perhaps take an optional trip to
visit the ancient Catacombs" (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 4 - Rome - Capri - Sorrento We drive to Naples, passing Monte Cassino, where we cruise to the Isle of Capri. Our local guide takes us by funicular to Capri Town to visit the famous gardens and admire the Faraglioni Rocks. Later we head for Sorrento by boat. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 5 - Sorrento - Taormina (3 nights) After visiting an inlaid wood workshop, we drive to Calabria via Salerno. Later we take the ferry across the Straits of Messina to Sicily and to the resort of Taormina for three nights. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 6 - Taormina orientation & at leisure Our orientation tour shows us the Corso Umberto before time at leisure. Later you may wish to take an excursion to the top of the volcano, Mount Etna. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 7 - Syracuse Excursion We visit the archeological excavations with a local guide to admire the Greek Theatre, the Roman amphitheatre and the Altar of Hierro II. Later we visit the Ortygia island before returning to Taormina. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 8 - Taormina - Agrigento We stop in Piazza Armerina to see the mosaics in the nearby Roman Villa of Casale and view the fortress town of Enna en route to Agrigento where we visit the Valley of the Temples. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 9 - Agrigento - Palermo We drive to Selinunte to visit the Dorian Temples and the Acropolis. Then to Palermo where our guide shows us the Piazza Bellini and the Cathedral. Later we view the Conca d - Oro from Monreale and visit the Norman Cathedral, then visit the fishing village of Modello en route to our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 10 - Depart Palmero After breakfast, your tour comes to an end. Transfers will be provided to Palermo Airport for passengers connecting on flights to other destinations. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 11 - Christmas & New Year's Eve Highlights Tour departure 24 Dec will be accommodated in Rome over Christmas and tour departure 30 Dec will be accommodated in Rome for the New Year celebrations.
