Great Italian Cities 2009
Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to Rome.
Day 2 - Arrive Rome (3 nights) Welcome to Rome, the Eternal City! After check-in, time to relax before meeting your Tour Director for a Welcome Drink tonight.
Day 3 - Rome sightseeing On our guided tour we visit the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, before visiting St. Peter's Basilica. Later we overlook the Forum and visit the Colosseum. Then time at leisure. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)
Day 4 - Rome at leisure A full day to relax and enjoy the many attractions this facinating city has to offer. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 5 - Rome — Assisi — Florence (3 nights) We drive north to mystical Assisi where we enjoy a guided visit of the town including St. Francis Basilica. Later we continue to Florence where a Hidden Treasure is revealed to us all as we start to explore this fascinating city. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 6 - Florence sightseeing Our walking tour includes the Duomo, the baptistery and the Piazza Signoria. Later we visit Holy Cross Church and the Academy of Fine Arts to see Michelangelo's original statue of David. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 7 - Florence — Excursion to Pisa A short drive brings us to the former maritime city of Pisa. Here we see not only the remarkable Leaning Tower but also the sculpted marble cathedral and baptistery. Tonight we enjoy dinner in a typical Tuscan restaurant with beautiful views across the landscape. (Buffet breakfast / 'Be my guest' Dinner)
Day 8 - Florence — Bologna — Venice (3 nights) We cross the Apennines and stop in the gastronomic city of Bologna, where we enjoy a guided tour. Later, we cross the River Po en route to Venice, the magical city originally constructed on wooden piles in the Venetian lagoon. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)
Day 9 - Venice — Canal Cruise and orientation Our private cruise takes us to St. Mark's Square where we see the Bridge of Sighs, the Doge's Palace, St. Mark's Basilica and the Campanile. We visit a glass-blowing workshop before time at leisure to explore. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 10 - Secret Venice walking tour & visit to the market Firstly we cruise along the Grand Canal to Rialto Bridge where our guided walking tour begins with a visit to the colourful fish market, before exploring many hidden parts of the city. After free time we meet together tonight to enjoy a Farewell Dinner in a local restaurant" (Buffet breakfast / Farewell Dinner)
Day 11 - Venice — USA This morning we say "arrivederci" to our Tour Director and traveling friends as our memorable tour comes to an end. (Buffet breakfast)
Free airport transfers: Transfers on Day 2 at Rome Fiumicino Airport will operate at 09.30, 12.30, 15.30 and 18.45. Passengers arriving later should make their own way to the first hotel. Return transfers on the last touring day will arrive at Venice's Marco Polo Airport at 08.00.
