Your trip begins in Fairbanks, Alaska's second-largest city. After a city tour, visit a real gold mine, pan for gold, and indulge at a special salmon bake dinner. Cruise the Chena and Tanana Rivers aboard a sternwheeler riverboat and visit a recreated Athabascan Indian Village. Ride the legendary Alaska Railroad to Denali National Park for a Tundra Wilderness tour, where you watch for Dall sheep, moose, caribou, and grizzly bears! In your free time at Denali National Park, try flightseeing, rafting, or hiking. Travel to Talkeetna, the starting point for climbers hoping to scale 20,320-foot Mount McKinley. On your way to Anchorage, visit Happy Trails Kennels, the award-winning dog kennels of 4-time Iditarod champion Martin Buser, and visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center.
