Real Europe
Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to Munich.
Day 2 - Arrive Munich Trafalgar meets you at the airport and transfers you to your hotel. This afternoon an orientation in this fun-loving city shows us the neo-gothic town hall on the Marienplatz as well as the world-famous Hofbrauhaus. Tonight we - ll enjoy a Welcome Dinner and wine with our Tour Director and new travelling companions. (Welcome Dinner)
Day 3 - Munich - Prague (2 nights) Today we drive past the Olympic Complex heading north via Regensburg, before reaching the Czech Border. Later, we enter Western Bohemia en route to Pilsen with its gothic old centre. Finally, we arrive in Prague, elegant capital of the Czech Republic for our two night stay. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 4 - Prague sightseeing & at leisure Our morning sightseeing tour highlights St. Vitus Cathedral, the Charles Bridge, plus a visit to the Old Town Square and views of Hradçany Castle. Then there's free time to explore this beautiful city with its countless monuments, or maybe take a lunch cruise on Smetana's Moldau or perhaps shop for Bohemian Crystal. Tonight, why not visit Wenceslas Square with its imposing statue of 'Good King Wenceslas' who was murdered by his brother 600 years ago. The square is famous for its nightlife so why not explore its bars, cafe's restaurants and shops" (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 5 - Prague - Budapest (2 nights) Leaving Prague, the green hills of Moravia glide past as we travel across three countries. First we enter Slovakia stopping to visit the capital, Bratislava. The city dates back to 450 BC when an important Celtic town, "Oppidium" was established on the current site of the city. Then we travel along the Danube Valley to romantic Budapest for two nights. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 6 - Budapest sightseeing & at leisure Budapest with its rich cultural history deserves its reputation as the "Pearl of the Danube" and sightseeing of these twin cities straddling the river Danube, shows us the fairytale Fishermen's Bastion, the Church of St. Matthias, Heroes' Square, the Royal Palace and spectacular views of the city from Gellert Hill. Later, there's free time to explore this fascinating city on your own, or perhaps visit the old town of St. André — a shopper's paradise. This evening maybe join an excursion to a lively Hungarian folklore show with traditional dancing and entertainment. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 7 - Budapest - Vienna (2 nights) Our first stop is at historic Gyor "The town of rivers", or Arrabon, as the Romans called it, a nearly 1000-year-old bishopric where Napoleon won a battle in 1809, situated on the river Danube, en route to the Austrian border. Then it's a short drive to Imperial Vienna for our fabulous two-night stay, why not enjoy a drive to see the city illuminated tonight" (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 8 - Vienna sightseeing & at leisure We enjoy a sightseeing tour with a local guide who takes us for a drive along the Imperial Boulevards to the mighty Hofburg with time to stop for pictures. We also see the Parliament, world-famous Opera House, Stadtpark, Monument to the Soviet soldier and impressive baroque church of St Charles Borromeo. A stroll along the Kartnerstrasse with its glamorous boutiques brings us to St Stephen's Cathedral, which we will visit (when open). Later maybe visit Empress Maria Theresa's favourite palace at Schönbrunn, former summer residence of the Imperial family and considered one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in Europe. You are in the musical capital of the world, so tonight, why not ask your Tour Director to arrange a concert of Classical music for you" (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 9 - Vienna - Salzburg - Munich Today we see the Abbey of Melk on the river Danube as we drive to the Salzkammergut to Salzburg. Here sightseeing on foot with a local guide, shows us Mozart's birthplace, and some of the places associated with the film 'The Sound of Music'. Later we drive back into Germany and return to Munich. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 10 - Depart Munich Time to bid farewell as we transfer to the airport for your return flight home. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 11 - Christmas & New Year's Eve Highlights Tour departure 23 Dec will be accommodated in Prague over Christmas and tour departure 29 Dec will be accommodated in Prague for the New Year celebrations.
