Spend nine days exploring the unspoiled landscapes of the Maritimes. Pick up your rental car in Halifax and begin discovering this fascinating area. Take a boat tour of Halifax Harbor and drive south to Peggy's Cove, a charming fishing village and one of the most photographed places in the world. Travel north across the Canso Causeway and arrive on Cape Breton Island. Here, explore the 185-mile-long Cabot Trail. This loop around the northern tip of Cape Breton travels through Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Return to mainland Nova Scotia and ferry across the Northumberland Strait to Prince Edward Island. Continue to Charlottetown, the "Birthplace of Canada," and cross the Confederation Bridge into New Brunswick. In Saint John, be sure to visit the Old City Market, then ferry across the Bay of Fundy to Digby, Nova Scotia. Take time to explore the Evangeline Trail and Port Royal, the first permanent European settlement in Canada. Return to Halifax to drop off your rental car and conclude your memorable vacation.
