CANADIAN COASTAL ADVENTURE WITH MONTREAL EXTENSION

Day 1 - Wed. HALIFAX. Enjoy time at leisure to relax or do some independent exploring. Your Tour Director is on hand this evening to answer any questions.

Day 2 - Thu. HALIFAX. Your city tour focuses on the major sights: CITADEL HILL with its early 19th-century, star-shaped fort; the tree-shaded walks winding through gorgeous flower beds and lily ponds of the public gardens; beautiful residential neighborhoods; and the harbor area, which shows the port's military heritage. You - ll also see the Fairlawn Cemetery, the final resting place for more than 100 people who perished on the ill-fated voyage of the Titanic. The afternoon is free. This evening, enjoy an optional dinner outing as actors and musicians entertain and serve up a 4-course feast.

Day 3 - Fri. HALIFAX - BADDECK. Early morning departure for rugged Cape Breton Island. Arrive in Baddeck, the summer home of Alexander Graham Bell. Visit the exciting ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL MUSEUM. Study exhibits tracing the achievements of the great inventor, who spent the last years of his life on Cape Breton.

Day 4 - Sat. BADDECK. THE CABOT TRAIL. This morning, drive along the famous Cabot Trail, an area first explored by John Cabot just five years after Columbus landed in the New World. Travel through CAPE BRETON HIGHLANDS NATIONAL PARK, climb 1,500-foot capes, skirt rugged coastal headlands, and pass through villages where ancient dialects can still be heard. Before leaving the Cabot Trail, stop at the Acadian fishing village of Cheticamp.

Day 5 - Sun. BADDECK - CHARLOTTETOWN. Head back to the peninsula and continue north to Caribou, where a ferry whisks you across NORTHUMBERLAND STRAIT to Prince Edward Island. For the next two nights you are in Charlottetown, the provincial capital. Late afternoon arrival allows you to see more of this colonial town on a stroll through colorful Great George Street and along the restored waterfront.

Day 6 - Mon. CHARLOTTETOWN. Begin the day with guided sightseeing of the island, including the coastal route through PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND NATIONAL PARK, viewing sand dunes, salt marshes, freshwater ponds, and some of the finest beaches in eastern Canada. Visit the ANNE OF GREEN GABLES FARMHOUSE, the setting for Lucy Maude Montgomery's famous novel. This evening, consider an optional outing to the Charlottetown Festival and the world-famous stage performance of Anne of Green Gables to relive the story.

Note: The Anne of Green Gables performance is available during July, August, and September.

Day 7 - Tue. CHARLOTTETOWN - MONCTON. This morning, travel across the 8-mile Confederation Bridge to New Brunswick. Stop by Bouctouche, a charming Acadian village, to explore LE PAYS DE LA SAGOUINE, the island where Acadians celebrate. This real village is in an enchanting natural setting where theater, music, comedy, and dance come alive. After an entertaining afternoon, we continue to the OLIVIER SOAPERY where you will experience exquisite aromas during your guided tour of the museum and workshop. Learn the history and authentic techniques in the art of soap crafting. Tonight, it's the ultimate lobster experience! Join your traveling companions on an optional lobster cruise where you haul in a lobster trap, learn cooking techniques, observe a cracking demonstration, and savor a complete lobster dinner served on board your sailing vessel.

Note: Due to limited seasonality departures, August 27 and after will experience a limited inside visit to Le Pays De La Sagouine.

Day 8 - Wed. MONCTON - FREDERICTON. Today, we make our way toward Fredericton, New Brunswick's capital city. Upon arrival, enjoy a highlight tour that includes the beautiful Christ Church Cathedral and the Historic Garrison District. After lunch, continue to the St. John River Valley and KINGS LANDING HISTORICAL SETTLEMENT. Disembark to find yourself more than 150 years back in time at a loyalist village, complete with creaking wagons pulled by trotting work horses, the whooshing of hoop skirts, and the distant melodies from lively fiddlers and dancing townsfolk, along with breathtaking views of the St. John River. Overnight in Fredericton.

Day 9 - Thu. FREDERICTON'ST. ANDREWS'SAINT JOHN. This morning, travel to the quaint resort town of St. Andrews by-the-Sea for included WHALE WATCHING. Cruise past rugged seascapes and scenic lighthouses for a true adventure.There's time to stroll and explore the many unique shops that line Water Street before following the beautiful Fundy Coast to Saint John, the Fundy City.

Day 10 - Fri. SAINT JOHN. ST. MARTINS EXCURSION. The day begins with a city sightseeing tour, which includes a stop at REVERSING FALLS, where the river's flow is thrust backwards by the ocean's incoming tide, and a visit to the bustling OLD CITY MARKET. Afterward, continue to the quaint fishing village of St. Martins, "The Heart of the Bay of Fundy," to view the harbor and twin covered bridges, and explore the breathtaking Fundy Trail.

Day 11 - Sat. SAINT JOHN - HALIFAX. Depart Saint John this morning. Make a stop at HOPEWELL ROCKS, where you can learn about the highest and wildest tides in the world, which rise and fall up to an incredible 52 feet (the height of a 4-story building). Arrival this evening in the modern port of Halifax, capital of Nova Scotia.

Day 12 - Sun. HALIFAX. PEGGY'S COVE EXCURSION. Travel to one of the most photographed locations in Canada - PEGGY'S COVE. Mail a postcard home in the only lighthouse in North America with a post office! Take time to explore the cove and allow this picturesque area to enchant you with its beauty, mystery, and charm. Before our return to Halifax, stop in Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Home to Nova Scotia's largest fishing fleet, extraordinary architecture, supreme shops, and more. While there, take a self-guided walking tour of the town and visit the FISHERIES MUSEUM . The evening is at leisure for last-minute shopping or a walk along the harbor.

Day 13 - Mon. HALIFAX - OCEAN TRAIN - MONTRÉAL. VIA Rail's® Ocean Train links Halifax and Montréal. Travel hundreds of miles while sleeping in comfort and awake in a different region of Canada! Ride across New Brunswick to Québec's largest city, Montréal. Accommodation on the train is in private double bedrooms. (D)

Day 14 - Tue. & Wed. MONTRÉAL. Morning arrival and transfer to your hotel for the next two nights. Enjoy free time in one of Canada's premier cities, a splendid combination of vibrant and modern shopping, financial districts, and historic architecture. Discover excellent restaurants, lively nightspots, and countless festivals. Don - t forget to visit the Notre Dame Basilica and Olympic Park, or try your luck at the Casino de Montréal. (B day 14)

Day 15 - Tue. & Wed. MONTRÉAL. Morning arrival and transfer to your hotel for the next two nights. Enjoy free time in one of Canada's premier cities, a splendid combination of vibrant and modern shopping, financial districts, and historic architecture. Discover excellent restaurants, lively nightspots, and countless festivals. Don - t forget to visit the Notre Dame Basilica and Olympic Park, or try your luck at the Casino de Montréal. (B day 14)

Day 16 - Thu. MONTRÉAL. The trip ends today with guests departing on individual schedules. Transfers are provided to Montréal International Airport.
