West Coast Wilderness
Day 1 - Arrive Hobart (2 nights) On arrival in Hobart Tasmania you will be transferred to your hotel (flight arrival before 5.00pm). Enjoy some free time, maybe stroll down to the historic Salamanca Placa, before a welcome drink with our Tour Director and fellow travelling companions tonight. (Dinner)
Day 2 - - Huon Valley Excursion This morning after breakfast we enjoy an orientation tour of the harbour capital visiting the Botanic Gardens, Battery Point, Salamanca Place and Constitution Dock. Next we travel to the summit of Mount Nelson with its magnificent views over the city and Derwent River. Continue through the green hills of the Huon Valley to the Tahune Forest AirWalk, a spectacular treetops walkway. Next to Geeveston to visit the Forest and Heritage Center where we'll observe the resident wood turner at work. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 3 - Hobart - Russell Falls - Strahan (2 nights) Today our journey will follow the Derwent Valley to the beautiful New Norfolk hop growing district. From here we continue to Mount Field National Park to inspect the Vistor Centre, before walking through the rainforest to Russell Falls. New we reach Lake St.Clair in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St.Clair National Park. View wild mountain scenery, before crossing the Franklin River and continuing through the mining township of Queenstown to Strahan for the night. Dinner will be served at our hotel this evening. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 4 - Gordon River Cruise This morning is at leisure to relax, explore or enjoy an optional activitysuch as a ride on the ABT Wilderness Railway or a spectacular scenic flight. Later this afternoon, we board our cruise and cross Macquarie Harbour into the reflective waters of the Gordon River. Discover the ruins of the burtal pental colony on Sarah Island, see Hell's Gates and enjoy a delicious buffet dinner. (Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)
Day 5 - Strahan - Cradle Mountain This morning we travel through the mining town of Rosebery into Cradle Mountain National Park. View Lake Dove and the jagged peaks of Cradle Mountain. This evening stay at the newest hotel in the Cradle Mountain- Lake St.Clair region. Adjacent to the hotel is the Australian National Wilderness and Landscape Gallery. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 6 - Cradle Mountain - The Nut - Stanley - Smithton This morning wind through the rainforest that encases Hellyer Gorge State Reserve. Visit the massive promontory known as The Nut, which dominates the picturesque fishing village of Stanley. This afternoon at Allendale Gardens there is time to stroll through the privately owned gardens. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 7 - Smithton - Sheffield - Launceston. After breakfast our day begins with a drive along the scenic north-west coast to Table Cape and through the seaside towns of Penguin and Ulverstone. From here we make our way to Sheffield, the so-called town of murals, where the town's buildings are adorned with remarkable wall paintings. We will visit the Ashgrove Farm chesse factory to see the production process, before taste testing the finished product. Next we continue to Deloraine to meet your Aboriginal host for the Jahadi Aboriginal Experience. You will be welcomed to the area with a traditional smoking ceremony, followed by a dance performance. Enjoy damper, bush tucker and billy tea, before continuing to riverside Launceston for the night. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 8 - Depart Launceston This morning we visit Cataract Gorge before your tour concludes. You will be transferred to Launceston Airport for your return flight home (flights to depart after 1.00pm). (Buffet Breakfast)
