Great Australian & New Zealand Adventure
Day 1 - & 2 - Depart USA We fly over the international date line on our way to Auckland, New Zealand.
Day 3 - Arrive Auckland (2 nights) On arrival in Auckland, you are met and transferred to your hotel, with a guaranteed early check-in. Your afternoon is at leisure for you to explore Auckland. This evening, we enjoy a welcome drink and dinner with our Tour Director and traveling companions. (Dinner)
Day 4 - Auckland sightseeing & at leisure A morning visit to Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World and Antarctic Encounter is followed by a sightseeing tour of Auckland including views from the top of Mount Eden and the War Memorial. Later, we stop at the Viauct Harbour, home to the 2000 America's Cup. Enjoy some free time, before returning to the hotel (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 5 - Auckland - Rotorua This morning after breakfast, we travel into the Waikato region and visit the incredible Waitomo Glow Worm Grotto on a guided boat tour. We will enjoy a mouth- watering barbecue lunch before we continue on to Rotorua where we visit Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve. Here we will view New Zealand's biggest geyser, bubbling mud pools and thermal springs. Finally, this evening we enjoy a traditional Maori Hangi dinner and concert. Day 6 - Rotorua - Christchurch Our morning sightseeing includes a visit to beautiful Paradise Valley Springs and the Agrodome's entertaining Sheep Show. See sheep shearing and a sheep dog demonstation. In the afternoon we take our flight to Christchurch on the South Island*. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 7 - TranzAlpine - Franz Josef Today we board the TranzAlpine train with stunning scenery on our journey over the South Alps to Arthur's Pass. Continue to Franz Josef where you will have the opportunity to enjoy an optional scenic flight (weather permitting). (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 8 - Franz Josef - Queenstown (2nights) We enjoy a coastal drive with views of the mighty Tasman Sea. Climb over the Haast Pass winding through Mount Aspiring National Park. Our journey passes Lake Wanaka, Lake Hawea and heads along the Kawarau River through Kawarau Gorge. Then we visit arrowtown, before reaching Queenstown for two nights. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 9 - Milford Sound An early start to Fiordland. We drive through the Homer Tunnel stopping at the Chasm, before arriving at Milford Sound. Enjoy a spectacular cruise including lunch with Mitre Peak and Bowen Falls high above. Later, we return to Queenstown. (Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Lunch)
Day 10 - Mount Cook - Christchurch Today's journey takes us past Mount Cook National Park. Next we visit Lake Tekapo, stopping at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Then we drive over the colourful, patchwork Canterbury Plains to Christchurch and enjoy a tour of the city. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 11 - Christchurch - Melbourne (2 nights) This morning we board our flight to Melbourne, Australia. On arrival we are transferred to our hotel. (Breakfast)
Day 12 - Melbourne sightseeing & at leisure Today's morning sightseeing tour features the beautiful Botanic Gardens. We'll also see the Queen Victoria Market, the Shrine of Remembrance, Parliament House and more. Finally, enjoy a drive over Westgate Bridge for panoramic views over Port Phillip Bay. Then time for shopping or perhaps take a relaxing walk. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 13 - Melbourne - Ayers Rock This morning we will board our flights to Ayers Rock where we visit Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and explore the rock domes in Walpa Gorge. Later, after sparkling wine at sunset we will enjoy a barbecue dinner. Time for stargazing too! (Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)
Day 14 - Ayers Rock - Alice Springs (2 nights) It's an early start as we watch sunrise over Uluru (Ayers Rock), plus there is an opportunity for those who wish to climb to the top of the summit. Then we tour the base of 'the Rock'. Later, we make our way to the unique town of Alice Springs. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 15 - Alice Springs at leisure A full day at leisure, perhaps to take a Palm Valley Safari or join an Aboriginal culture tour. Tonight, why not dine in one of Alice's fine restaurants" (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 16 - Alice Springs - Darwin This morning we visit the Alice Springs Desert Park. Learn about some of Australia's unique desert animals and visit the largest desert noctural housein the world. Then, we take our midday flight to Darwin. The rest of the day is free. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 17 - Darwin - Kakadu We travel via the Adelaide River and Marrakai Plains deep into the Kakadu National Park. We stop to visit Nourlangie Rock with its Aboriginal rock art. Next we join a Yellow Water Billabong cruise with our local expert guide. Finally, we visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre to view the informative displays. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 18 - Kakadu - Darwin Today we make our way to Ubirr where we view the rock drawings. We inspect the Bowali Visitor Centre before joining the jumping Crocodile Cruise. Return to Darwin late afternoon. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 19 - Darwin - Cairns - Port Douglas (3 nights) This morning we board our flight to Queensland arriving at Cairns airport. Here we drive to Port Douglas and our hotel with the rest of our day at leisure. Perhaps take a stroll along beautiful Four Mile Beach. (Breakfast)
Day 20 - Port Douglas - Great Barrier Reef Cruise This morning we join the Quicksilver Catamaran for a day at the Agincourt Reef on the Great Barrier Reef. An expert marine biologist guides us through the various marine life seen from the underwater observatory, the sub-sea viewer and glass-bottom boat. Later, after our included smorgasbord lunch, there's time to relax before our cruise back to Port Douglas. (Buffet Breakfast / Lunch)
Day 21 - Port Douglas at leisure A full day at leisure. You may wish to take an excursion over the rainforest on the Skyrail Cableway to Kuranda, or a trip to the rainforests of Daintree and Cape Tribulation. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 22 - Port Douglas - Cainrs - Sydney (4 nights) Later this morning we transfer to nearby Cairns for our flight to Sydney for four fabulous nights. (Buffet Breakfast)
Day 23 - Sydney sightseeing & at leisure Sightseeing today includes the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. We'll join a guided tour to the Opera House, a famous Australian icon. Then later, we enjoy a luxury cruise on Sydney Harbour including a delicious lunch on board. (Buffet Breakfast / Lunch)
Day 24 & 25 - Sydney at leisure Enjoy two full days at leisure in this exciting city. Maybe join an excursion to the Blue Mountains and Featherdale Wildlife Park, or perhaps take a tour to Canberra. (Buffet Breakfast / Buffet Breakfast)
Day 26 - Sydney - USA Today time to bid farewell to new-found friends as we transfer you to the airport for our flight home. (Buffet Breakfast)
