Wonders of the Yangtze (Shangri-La)

Day 1 - Depart North America Board your overnight flight to Shanghai.

Day 2 - Arrive Shanghai Arrive in Shanghai and transfer to the Regal

Day 3 - Shanghai — Yangtze River Cruise Spend the morning exploring Shanghai, China's largest city. Visit the famous Bund waterfront promenade, walk the winding alleyways of Old Town, and see the tranquil Yu Yuan Gardens. In the evening, board your Victoria Cruises ship for your Yangtze cruise. (Buffet Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 4 - Yangtze River Cruise — Nanjing Located on the southern bank of the Yangtze, in the foothills of the Zijin mountains, Nanjing holds a prominent place in Chinese history. In the Old Town, you'll visit the Mausoleum of Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of the Republic of China. You'll also have time to browse the Qing Dynasty-style bazaar and explore the Confucian Temple. (Buffet Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 5 - Yangtze River Cruise — Huangshan Enjoy a full-day trip to Huangshan depending on weather and/or road conditions. In no time, you'll understand why countless painters and poets have been lured to this landscape. It's famous for rocky, mist-enshrouded peaks, interestingly shaped pine trees and clear mountain springs. Along the way, you'll pass by quaint villages and bright green rice paddies. (Buffet Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 6 - Yangtze River Cruise — Wuhan The capital of Hubei Province, Wuhan, is a fusion of three cities that span both banks of the Yangtze. Explore the Hubei Provincial Museum. (Buffet Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 7 - Cruising the Yangtze River Enjoy a full-day cruising the majestic Yangtze. Play a game of mahjong, hear a lecture on China's history from a local river guide, and watch for golden-haired monkeys on the riverbanks. (Buffet Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 8 - Yangtze River Cruise — Three Gorges Dam It seems as though the sights are endless along the Yangtze, but each is amazing. Visit the Three Gorges Dam, the world's largest hydroelectric power project. Traverse the Yangtze 5-stage Ship Locks. After you pass through the locks, cruise though Xiling Gorge, the longest of the Three Gorges. (Buffet Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 9 - Yangtze River Cruise — Lesser Three Gorges Board a riverboat and travel down the Daning River, a tributary to the Yangtze. Depending on water levels, explore the Lesser Three Gorges, Dragon Gate, Misty Gorge and Emerald Gorge. Dragon Gate Gorge is named for its cliffs framing the entrance. Discover the dramatic scenery of Misty Gorge, where coffins of the Ba Tribe hang in caves. Watch for monkeys frolicking along verdant Emerald Gorge. Sail through Wu Gorge, known for its famous 12 peaks and Qutang Gorge, the grandest of all, flanked with steep cliffs. (Buffet Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 10 - Yangtze River Cruise — Fengdu Fengdu, known as the "City of Ghosts," is a treasure trove of folk customs. Tour the temples on Mingshan Hill, supposedly housing silent ghosts and devils. Depending on water levels, an alternative visit to Shibaozai or Wanzhou will be made. (Buffet Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 11 - Yangtze River — Chongqing — Beijing Enjoy your last day cruising to Chongqing. This 3,000-year-old former capital of China will become the largest inland harbor when the Three Gorges Dam is completed in 2009. Visit the giant pandas at the zoo, and in the afternoon fly to Beijing and get settled into the beautiful Kempinski

Day 12 - Beijing — North America Board your return flight from Beijing home. Or extend your glorious holiday with a four-day extension in Hong Kong. (Buffet Breakfast)
